More than 20 thesauri are presently available, and the number is growing. These allow you to easily transform your data. Transformations can be simple, but useful - for example, to convert American to British text spelling or to convert Class Codes into plain English. Some thesauri consolidate messy text variants into analyzable forms - for example, our Date thesaurus translates many date variations into years; another strips non-topical MeSH (Medical Subject Headings in the free Medline database that covers global biomedical research); another removes "stopwords" (very common words) from text to facilitate Natural Language Processing for meaningful content analyses. Thesauri are invaluable in many text processing steps. You can develop your own to capture your domain's reusable information.
