How to Repair ActiveX 'ChartDirector' Error (DDA)

If you get an ActiveX error message while running Bubble Chart, Super Profile, or Company Activity Gantt that looks something like this:

Then it is possible you may need to manually register dll files. First open the command prompt as an Administrator:

  1. Click Start, click All Programs, and then click Accessories.

  2. Right-click Command prompt, and then click Run as administrator.

  3. If the User Account Control dialog box appears, confirm that the action it displays is what you want, and then click Continue.

In the command prompt navigate to the Derwent Data Analyzer Installation Macros\Resource directory (typically C:\Program Files (x86)\Derwent Data Analyzer\Macros\Resource) with the following command:

  • cd C:\Program Files (x86)\Derwent Data Analyzer\Macros\Resource

Press Enter. Now you will register the dll's with the following commands:

  • regsvr32 comchartdir.dll
  • regsvr32 aspapi.dll

For 64-bit installs, you need to run both of the previous commands, and then also:

  • cdreg64 /r comchartdir.dll
  • cdreg64 /r aspapi.dll

At this point you should be able to successfully run the script that was causing this error.
